Deciding to Build your Website
In today's digital world the best way to communicate your thoughts, business or blog is via a website. A website allows you to focus all of your thoughts and concepts into one digital place or address. Your website should be an embodiment of what you believe, after all can you really market what you don't believe in?
So what are you selling or providing to the global public? You should know your product or service inside out. Your product or service is going to be the bedrock or foundation of your website design and corporate message. You should try to have a clear vision of how you want your website to look. For example, the color scheme, the website theme and how it compliments your product and service offering. I don't know if you have ever realised this but, sometimes there are websites that turn you off psychologically because of the product or service doesn't go with the website theme. I mean, if I turn up on an exotic flowers blog website, I am totally not prepared to see a washing machine on sale.
Here are some website categories:
Personal website or a blog (example: Freelancer, business consultant)
Small business website (example: Coffee shop)
Portfolio (example: Professional photographer)
eCommerce website (example: For selling products)
Non-profit website (example: Organizations, events)
Your website can also be a mixture of everything. All of these categories can be intertwined and mixed with each other.
The next step is finding a reputable and user friendly website builder to assist you in bringing all your thoughts to a reality. If you are not computer savvy or knowledgeable of HTLM then you will need all the help you can get.
Personally, I have used simplesite.com and www.wix.com, however, I prefer to use Wix because it provides many more options and is more interactive and intuitive than SimpleSite. Actually, Simplesite is too simple and does not allow the flexibility needed for rapid website development.
However, Simplesite may be used to become familiar with website building. Wix offers a plethora of website design strategies and also has a drag-and-drop interface, and all elements of the site are customizable. It doesn't cost a cent to get started with Wix, but you'll want to go premium, starting at $5 per month for a domain and scaling upward to $25 per month for unlimited monthly data transfers and 20GB of storage. Honestly, it is worth it and if you have the extra budget you can access the Wix market place where you can hire a professional to help you if needed.
This is my first time owning a website with Wix and I am enjoying how user friendly it is, as I consider myself an online novice.
The AI designer on Wix will teach you precisely what you need to know, it will save your progress and it will direct you step by step to get your website up and working. Remember you will be able to change any aspect of your website at any time. The AI will also provide options for you to try out in the event you that you are unable to visualise the result yourself. In addition, there are many addons to make your website a super hero!
I hope you develop your own website regardless of whether it is for business or for entertainment. It has certainly opened up a new world to me that I previously was oblivious to. I have gained knowledge that I had no clue about previously all because I wanted to have my own website.
You may discover something about yourself as you offer your own creativity to the world .
